For some time now, changes in society and in consumer habits have made immediacy a central element for both companies and customers. This situation prompted those businesses who were not digital natives to begin the shift towards a digital and analytics transformation.
This transformation has turned usage data into one of the most important factors for achieving more competitiveness, allowing us to pinpoint user preferences and create specific services for each and every one of them.
Naranja X has transformation embedded in its DNA. This transformation began more than 37 years ago when it went from being a simple business venture to a leading sporting goods retailer, Salto 96. As time went on and due to the customer’s ever-changing needs, the business model evolved and thus was born Tarjeta Naranja. With the idea of adapting to a new reality where digital payment methods were increasingly being used, 2017 saw the arrival of Naranja X, currently one of the top fintech companies in the region.
Naranja X understood that a change in “mindset” is the first step in digital evolution. This is why the main challenge is putting the people involved first over the technology stack.
Here lies the importance of investing in training and development in order to achieve change, not only in some processes but in the company’s culture as a whole.
Today, the people who make up the organization are the driving force and the most important factor when it comes to leading this process.
In order to promote the mindset shift and the company’s digital evolution, in 2019 Naranja X created a Big Data and Advanced Analytics CoE, going from being an information delivery area to a center of expertise that ensures data governance as a strategic asset, decentralization practices, data tech stack and implementation of analytics and artificial intelligence with the customer at the center of it all.
Because we are set on the path to evolution, we created –together with the People department- the Data-Driven Transformation Team, whose goal is to generate a mindset and develop analytic capabilities to encourage autonomy and data-driven decision-making.
Understanding the reality of the company was the starting point for this team. In order to do this we initially defined that our target audience was not the whole organization but rather those people who need to have the autonomy for making solid, evidence-based decisions in their day-to-day.
Our main focal points are targeting audience training, internal community as a space for interaction and communication, data democratization, and analytics capabilities such as cross-line during the recruitment process
Our main focal points are target audience training, internal community as a space for interaction and communication, data democratization, and analytics capabilities such as cross-line during the recruitment process.
In order to measure people’s evolution (“If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it”) we’ve created the Analytics Maturity Index which reflects how we are embracing the necessary data capabilities.
As we look back we are convinced that we have chosen the right path for the company’s evolution. None of this would be possible if we as leaders didn’t challenge and support the training and development of the talent who make up Naranja X.
